Day 40, Smoky Cape to Forster
A lazy morning.  I packed up slowly and didn't get away until about midday.
My neighbours in the campground decided to have a chat. They're an English couple in their 60s / 70s who've spent the last 17 months touring around Aus, living out of a little camper trailer. Formerly they were long distance sailors so I guess the lack of space doesn't bother them.
An hour later I thought I should make a move.
Headed for Kempsey along the Macleay River. Gladstone is a pleasant place on the riverbank.
Grabbed a sandwich in Kempsey.  Couldn't find the town centre.  Apparently they're trying to keep it a secret.
Time seemed to be evaporating so I jumped onto the Pacific Hwy and floored it towards Forster/Tuncurry. I was hoping to get to the Myall Lakes National Park. I didn't quite make it.
It was starting to rain as I approached Forster and I would have been pushing it to get the last ferry at Bombah Point so I checked in to a caravan park. At least I can have a hot shower.
It's raining quite heavily off and on, and cold too!
